The Butterfly Circus.jpg

This is a superbly written, poetic wonder of a book! 'The Butterfly Circus' spins you in an imaginative corde lisse, dazzling you with a story both beautiful and dangerous. Whatever you do, don't let go...

Tansy and her sister Belle are magnificent acrobats of a spectacular trapeze act in 'The Butterfly Circus'. Following an unfortunate accident, Tansy feels unable to continue her performances; afraid of the heights in which she once soared. But when her sister goes missing, Tansy must make an incredible journey to find Belle, while facing her own fears, and her troubled past.

First off, Francesca Armour-Chelu is a fabulous writer. In particular, her descriptions sparkle like gilded lights, while her words build tension and drama like powerful ballyhoos. There is much to admire about the imaginative daring in 'The Butterfly Circus'. On every page there is a new treasure, a new wonder; the reader is really treated to a circus of the imagination. Like Walker Book's other recent near-the-sea adventure, 'Malamander', this story blazes with ideas: it is entertainment of a superior quality. 'The Butterfly Circus' needs the same attention.

This is a story that really impresses in so many ways; in both content and style. I'd love to see an illustrated version as there would be just so much to gawp at! Please, readers, jump into'The Butterfly Circus' and be mesmerized by its showstopping, poetic power.

Thank you to Walker Books for my copy.
